Bengaluru businessman dies as car catches fire near Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: A 38-year-old businessman from Bengaluru was charred to death when a car he was driving caught fire at Madukkarai in Coimbatore in the early hours of Sunday.
The man died inside the car as he could not unlock the seatbelt and escape.The deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar of Bengaluru.
Police said he was a pawnbroker doing business in Bengaluru and Kochi.Dilip was travelling to Kochi from Bengaluru with his wife and two children when the Kerala-registered car caught fire due to a short circuit.
His wife and children managed to escape from the car while he died sitting on the driver's seat as he could not unlock the seatbelt.The accident happened near Marappalam toll plaza around 2am.On being alerted by passersby, fire and rescue service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire.Forensic science experts checked the car to find out the reason for the fire.The Madukkarai police registered a case and further investigations were on.
