Senior cops inspect TN border areas, strengthen anti-Maoist drive

Coimbatore: A police team consisting of superintendent Pa Moorthy and Naxalite special division (NSD) additional deputy superintendent A Mohan Nawas visited the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border on Thursday and instructed NSD police personnel to be ready to face any situation.Kerala police had alerted Tamil Nadu police about Maoists planning to observe the first death anniversary of the two Maoists, who were killed in an encounter with Kerala police in Nilambur forest in Kerala on November 24, last year. The department had deployed two sentries each for duty there. We have now increased the number of personnel. They will protect the police stations round-the-clock. Personnel at all the six police stations located near the reserve forest were given advanced weapons," Moorthy added.
