Industrialist Mahimananda Mishra gets bail in murder bid cases

CUTTACK: The Orissa high court on Monday granted bail to industrialist Mahimananda Mishra in connection with the two cases of attempt to murder pending against him in Cuttack and Paradip.Mishra was arrested in December 2016 from Bangkok for allegedly masterminding the alleged murder of one Mahendra Swain, general manager of a stevedoring company - Seaways Shipping - in Paradip. Subsequently, two more cases of attempt to murder were lodged against him in Cuttack and Paradip.The Bench of Justice D Dash granted the bail to Mishra on the condition that he will not influence any witness of the cases neither will he tamper with the evidences. According to the case details, bombs were hurled at the lawyer allegedly at Mishra's behest and Bhatt was injured in the incident.

According to police, at the instruction of Mishra, a few miscreants had opened fire on two youths at Taranidaga.The victims had sustained injuries in the mishap and a case was registered against Mishra, who has been undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, for last one year.
