CUTTACK: Sand artist Sudam Pradhan has not only built a 25-feet tall sculpture that showcases history of Baliyatra, he has also depicted the state's rich maritime history on the beaches of the Baliyatra grounds along with building a special sand sculpture that doffs its hat to the Men's Hockey World Cup being hosted in Bhubaneswar. Naturally, his art has become a huge draw for Baliyatra visitors.A depiction of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has proven quite popular too. "I have tried to depict the cleanliness of this fair and also showcase the rich maritime history of the voyagers with a beautiful replica of old ships on sand. Hosting the hockey World Cup is a matter of pride for Odisha. It took me and my team around four days to complete the sculpture," said Sudam.The sand sculptures have turned into de-facto selfie zones for youngsters. "I have clicked a selfie with the beautiful and inspiring sand art. I will post it on social media as it has given an important message about the theme of the fair," said one Subash Das, who was seen taking multiple selfies with the sand art.Sudam and his team plan to create more sculptures celebrating hockey in the coming days.
