CUTTACK: Two persons were killed and four others injured after a private passenger bus overturned near Kajalakana on the NH-42, near Choudwar , on Monday. Deputy commissioner of police ( Cuttack ) Akhileswar Singh said both the deceased were men. The four injured included two women. The accident took place around 4.15 pm, at a spot around 11 kilometres from here.The bus was on its way to Angul from Cuttack and was carrying more than 40 passengers. Several residents of Choudwar were among them.Eyewitnesses said when the bus reached near Kajalakana, another bus tried to overtake it at speed. To avoid a collision, the driver of the first bus swerved but lost control. It overturned and hit sand dumped by the side of the road.Personnel from the Choudwar police station, passers-by and residents of the area reached the spot and began a rescue operation. A fire service team joined later.Ambulances brought the injured to S C B Medical College Hospital here.Official sources said the two deceased belonged to Choudwar but had not been identified.The four injured were identified as Sabana Dehury (18) and Kanchan Kumari (46) of Choudwar, Rajat Roul (20) of Dhenkanal and Kumar Jyoti Prakash (20) of Tukuda in Angul district All four sustained minor injuries and are stable.
