PG seats hiked in SCB medical college

At least two PG seats in ophthalmology department of MKCG medical college has been hiked while VIMSAR has received a hike of 11 post graduate seats. In VIMSAR, three PG seats have been hiked in pediatrics department, five in surgery, two in ophthalmology, and one in respiratory medicine department. CUTTACK: Medical Council of India (MCI) has allowed a hike of 29 post graduate(PG) seats in SCB medical college and hospital for the academic year 2017-18.Sources said at least 9 PG seats have been increased in medicine department while in surgery and orthopedic departments, five and eight seats have been hiked respectively. The hike in post graduate seats will help a lot in dealing with doctor shortage problem in the state," said principal of SCB medical college and hospital, Dr Siddartha Das . Similarly, radio-diagnosis, psychiatry, dermatology and respiratory medicine departments have got a hike of one seat each, while three seats have been increased in ophthalmology wing "It is a matter of immense pleasure for us.

"The health ministry has announced about the hike on its website and very soon we will receive an official letter in this regard," said an official of SCB.SCB sources said MCI has also allowed hike in PG seats in two other government run medical colleges MKCG at Berhampur and VIMSAR, Burla in the state.
