The Railway Ministry on Sunday alerted on its official twitter handle that a railway recruitment notice doing the rounds offering over 5000 vacancies in the Indian Railways is fake. The ministry has asked people to be careful about such fake job notices.

This fake notice was circulated by an organisation named ‘Avestran Infotech’ in the name of Indian Railways.

“Clarification about an advertisement by a private agency in a newspaper regarding alleged recruitment in eight categories of posts on Indian Railways,” it wrote on Twitter, giving a link to a PIB article on the official statement from the Railways Ministry.

Details of the fake railway recruitment
The ministry said in its statement that the above organisation had advertised the job vacancy in the name of Indian Railways in a prominent newspaper and had provided the website address as www.avestran.in.

The railways recruitment was advertised for 5285 posts in eight categories on an outsourcing basis for an 11-year contract.

Applicants were asked to deposit Rs 750 as online fees and the last date was mentioned as September 10, 2020.

“It may be informed to all that Advertisement for any Railway recruitment is always done by Indian Railways ONLY. No private agency has been authorized to do the same,” the Ministry of Railways said in its statement.

“The said issuance of said advertisement in question is illegal,” it added.

“It is further clarified that the Railways have not authorized any private agency as yet to do the recruitment of staff on its behalf as alleged by the above-named agency,” it further said.

The Railways Ministry said that the recruitment of various categories of Group ‘C’ and erstwhile Group ‘D’ posts on Indian Railways is presently catered to by 21 Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and 16 Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) only and not by any other agency.

Railway recruitments are given wide publicity through Centralized Employment Notifications (CENs), it clarified.

“CEN is published through Employment News/Rozgar Samachar and an indicative notice is given in National Daily and Local Newspapers. The CEN is also displayed on the official websites of RRBs/RRCs. The website address of all RRBs/RRCs is mentioned in the CEN,” the official statement said.

“Railways has initiated its investigation and is going on to take strictest action as per law against the above agency/persons involved in above matter,” the statement from the ministry said.
