WhatsApp privacy policy unchanged FB to House panel

New Delhi January 21Under fire over its proposed changes in the privacy policy for WhatsApp social media giant Facebook assured a Parliamentary Standing Committee that it has not “functionally changed” the privacy policy. Facebook and Twitter officials deposed before the committee on “safeguarding citizens' rights and prevention of misuse of social/online news media platforms”. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had recently written to Will Cathcart Global CEO of WhatsApp to withdraw the proposed changes to the privacy policy for Indian users. Officials of the US headquartered Facebook clarified that the privacy policy is the same since 2016.
