DELHI TO GO HOT, FEBRUARY RACING TO BE THE WARMEST IN RECENT TIMES

The national capital Delhi is heading to record the warmest February in recent times. Base observatory of Delhi at Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 28.9°C, 4°C above the normal. Ever since the mercury crossed 30°C on 10th February, Delhi has been recording the temperature above the average by 3-5°C. The remaining days of February will clock 30°C or more against the normal of 26°C in Delhi. With likely reversal of the winds, the last 3 days may possibly touch 31°C or exceed by another whisker.

The month of February for Delhi generally starts with an average of 23°C in the 1st week and climbs to 26°C towards fag end. The average for the month stands at 23.9°C. With warmer days at the beginning of the month in Delhi and then again with the mercury rising above the normal continuously for the last 2 weeks. The average temperature for 3 weeks for Delhi between 01-22 February has touched about 26.7°C. With sunny days ahead for the rest of the month, the average for this month for Delhi will breach 27°C marks and may end close to 27.5°C.

Earlier, in the recent past, the average temperature of February for Delhi had reached 26°C in 2016 and a shade lower at 25.9°C in 2017. The highest maximum of 32.4°C for Delhi was recorded on 21st February 2017 and close behind was 2018 registering 32°C on 23rd February. February 2020 was relatively cooler for Delhi and the highest maximum was 27.8°C on 13th February. The highest temperature so far during this month for Delhi was 30.4°C recorded on 10th February 2021. There is a fair amount of chance to reach 32°C in the remaining days of February and Delhi can expect warmer days ahead.
