West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has left from Delhi on a five-day visit. As he went, he said that democracy should prevail. Mamata also said that she would visit the national capital every two months.

Banerjee, who is visiting the national capital for the first time after exploring the possibilities in national politics and a landslide victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, described her visit as a success.

Before leaving from the residence of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and nephew Abhishek Banerjee, the Chief Minister said, "The tour was successful. Met many of his colleagues for political purposes. We met for a political purpose. Democracy must prevail. Our slogan is `Save democracy, save the country.` I will come here every two months.`

Banerjee also said that she supports the cause of farmers and is in touch with them. She was referring to the farmers` protest against three agriculture laws enacted in September last year.

The Trinamool Congress supremo said, `Nothing can be better than opposition unity for political purpose. Due to the COVID-19 protocol, I could not meet every leader I wanted to meet. However, the outcome of the meetings was good. Will work together.

Banerjee met some leaders of opposition parties, sparking speculation about a possible united opposition ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leaders Anand Sharma, Kamal Nath and Abhishek Singhvi. Banerjee also met Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Kanimozhi.
