Capital likely to get rainfall until tomorrow, says MeT

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its latest bulletin that Delhi and its neighbouring States in North  and Central India are likely to get widespread rainfall until Monday (February 5) owing to a fresh western disturbance. The western disturbance has been forecast to affect Northwest India starting Saturday. Delhi on Saturday recorded a minimum temperature of 6.7 degrees Celsius, two notches below the seasons average , with dense fog in some isolated pockets of the city. The maximum temperature was settled at 23. 2 degree Celsius, two notches above the normal.  Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge, Ayanagar, Jafarpur and Narela recorded the maximum temperature at21.3 degree Celsius, 22.7 degree Celsius, 21.9 degree Celsius, 22.6 degree Celsius, 21.5 degree Celsius and 22.5 degree Celsius. The weather department has forecast generally cloudy sky and light rain thundershowers accompanied with gusty winds on Sunday, the IMD said. The Palam area recorded 50-metre visibility at 5.30 am, the IMDs weather bulletin showed. According to IMD, night and morning will be colder due to icy wind coming from hills.  No dense fog was reported at Delhi Airports at 8.30 am on Saturday. Palam weather station reported 800-metre visibility and Safdarjung 1,500-metre. Delhis air quality at 6 pm was recorded in the moderate category with a reading of 193, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Earlier, in a special message to Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Earth  Sciences and chief secretaries of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab,Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhad, the IMD warned of wet spell with thunderstorm and hailstorm at isolated places is likely over Northwest & adjoining Central India during 03rd to 05th with peak activity on 04th February, 2024.
