National Science Day: Minister launches `Vigyan Ki Awaz` series on I-RadioLive podcast platform

New Delhi, February 28, 2024: In a momentous event at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on National Science Day 2024, Union Minister for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, unveiled a pioneering STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine) podcast series titled "Vigyan Ki Awaz." The series aims to showcase the groundbreaking achievements of autonomous institutes under the Department of Science and Technology, covering diverse areas such as weather predictions, quantum science, sustainable energy solutions, and the exploration of ancient heritage.

Addressing the audience, Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the crucial role of science and technology in India`s progress, echoing the sentiments of Nobel Laureate Sir CV Raman, who once stated that India could advance only through continuous scientific endeavors. Dr. Singh applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s commitment to prioritizing science and technology, emphasizing their imperative role in achieving the goal of a developed India.

Highlighting India`s significant strides in the field of science and technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh revealed that the country`s bio-economy has experienced a remarkable 13-fold growth over the past decade, soaring from $10 billion in 2014 to an impressive $130 billion in 2024.

Dr. V.K. Saraswat, Member of Niti Aayog, shared noteworthy information on indigenous technology, revealing that 15 companies are currently producing bulletproof vests for Indian soldiers, aligning with PM Modi`s directive to ensure the safety and well-being of the nation`s armed forces.

Prof. A.K. Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India, highlighted the Rural Technology Action Group (RUTA), recognizing the potential for innovation at the grassroots level in rural India.

During the event, other dignitaries, including Dr. Rajesh Gokhale (Secretary, Department of Biotechnology), Dr. Kalaiselvi (DG-CSIR), Professor Abhay Karandikar (Secretary DST) and Dr. Rashmi Sharma (Head, NCSTC, DST) , also addressed the gathering. They collectively stressed the transformative power of scientific endeavors, shaping not only the nation`s future but also contributing significantly to global advancements.

National Science Day is commemorated annually on February 28th, celebrating the discovery of the `Raman Effect` by Sir C.V. Raman. The theme for National Science Day 2024, "Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat," underscored India`s commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancements within its borders.
