GST officer dismissed for gross misconduct

The Vigilance Department of Delhi Government on Tuesday has dismissed Goods and Services Tax Officer Manoj Kaushik, of Ward No. 41 of Trade and Taxes Department, for his gross misconduct and causing loss to the Government Exchequer to the tune of Rs. 14 crores. The order to dismiss the Trade & Taxes Official stated, The Competent Authority (Chief Secretary) has dismissed Manoj Kaushik, GSTO of Ward No. 41 of Trade and Taxes Department for his gross misconduct for the period ranging from 26.07.2021 to 13.10.2021. It further mentioned that Kaushik, GSTO has issued various illegal refund orders to the beneficiaries and caused loss to the Government Exchequer to the tune of Rs. 14 crores. The Officer is responsible for illegally issuing 122 refund orders worth Rs. 9.68 Crores (approx.) in a short span of two months without verifying the credentials of the Dealers. The Officer illegally approved refund orders worth Rs. 2.24 Crores (approx.) on the same date of applying the refunds and remaining Rs. 7.44 Crores (approx.) were approved within a short span of five days to non-existing firms, the letter stated. It also said that huge illegal refunds were made amounting to approximately Rs. 4.11 Crores to the dealers who were found non-existing and non-traceable.
