The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Saturday marked "World Health Day" with an awareness program held at Modern School in Vasant Vihar here. Attended by around 108 teachers from various private schools in the South Zone, the event was focused on the theme "My Health My Right". According to a statement here by the civic agency, the Municipal Health Officer and other senior officials from the MCD Public Health department talked about the prevention and control of Dengue and other vector-borne diseases (VBDs) within schools and their surroundings. They also addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of health rights and responsibilities and protective measures against mosquitoes and strategies to engage students in spreading awareness about Dengue and other VBDs. Main focus of the event coinciding with World Health Day was the introduction of the Dengue Home Work Card, a practice already implemented in municipal schools for several years. Additionally, demonstrations on identifying larvae of different mosquito species and discussions on prevention and control measures for mosquito breeding were conducted.  The MCD has been asking representatives from government offices, educational institutions, commercial establishments, market associations, and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to ensure proper maintenance of water storage facilities. This includes keeping overhead tanks and other containers covered, re-painting water tanks of coolers, changing pads regularly, and cleaning and scrubbing coolers weekly, said the statement. The event served as a platform to reinforce the importance of health consciousness and efforts in combating vector-borne diseases (VBDs), particularly in educational institutions and their surroundings, it added.
