GHAZIABAD: An FIR was registered against a constable on Thursday evening after an accused fled from his custody from the district court premises a day earlier. A police team launched a manhunt, but Singh could not be found. Police said, Singh was earlier given bail in 2015 case, but since then he was not appearing before the court.After hearing the case, the magistrate ordered that Singh be arrested and sent to jail from the court premises itself.Subsequently, constable Yogesh took Singh in his custody and while he had gone to the court room to complete the formality related to his arrest, the accused disappeared from the court premises. The FIR has been registered under sections 223 (escape from confinement or custody negligently suffered by public servant) and 224 (resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension) of the IPC against constable Yogesh and the accused Gyan Singh.A report in this regard has been sent to the SSP’s office and the constable is expected to be suspended, said police.Police said, Gyan Singh is a resident of Dausa district in Rajasthan and an accused in a 2015 case of forgery and criminal conspiracy registered at Loni Border police station.
