GHAZIABAD: A 28-year-old woman from Tronica City has accused her husband of giving her triple talaq over dowry In August last year, the Supreme Court had set aside triple talaq as unconstitutional, saying it was against the tenets of Quran. The complainant said her husband had once given her triple talaq five years back. But at that time, she had performed nikah halala and reunited with her husband Tahir (32), who works in a textile factory. However, the demand for more dowry did not stop.“In the past five years, I gave birth to two daughters, but my husband continued to harass me. The birth of two daughters also did not go down well with him,” she added.On Sunday, the couple’s parents met at the husband’s house to sort out differences, but the husband lost his temper and allegedly dragged his wife into an alley outside their home and uttered the word ‘talaq’ thrice in the presence of locals. He later fled the spot.Shyamveer Singh, SHO, Tronica City police station, said a complaint in this regard had been received and they were looking into the matter.
