Ghaziabad: Accused who fled from police custody arrested

GHAZIABAD: Police have arrested an accused, who had fled from the court's premises, a week ago. A reward of Rs 15, 000 was subsequently announced on the accused, Gyan Singh, arrest . A manhunt was lodged, but he could not be found.SHO (Kavi Nagar) Pradeep Kumar Tripathi said, “As many as seven cases are registered against the accused at police stations in Ghaziabad and Rajasthan." A constable was suspended following the incident. Singh was wanted in several cases of cheating, criminal conspiracy, assault, besides the Arms Act and the Gangster Act.Police said Singh was caught on Thursday morning from near Hapur Chungi following a tip off.An FIR had been registered under sections 223 and 224 of the IPC against constable Yogesh and Singh after the latter fled from the police custody on July 11.Singh, a resident of Dausa in Rajasthan, was facing a non-bailable warrant in a 2015 case of forgery and criminal conspiracy registered at Loni Border police station.

He had appeared before the court of an additional chief judicial magistrate on July 11 with a hope that he would be granted a bail, but on the contrary, the court ordered his arrest and told the police to take him in the custody.The NBW was issued against him four months ago after he stopped appearing before the court in the case.Subsequently, constable Yogesh took Singh in his custody and while he had gone to the court’s room to complete the formality related to Singh’s arrest, the accused disappeared from the court premises. A manhunt was lodged, but he could not be found.SHO (Kavi Nagar) Pradeep Kumar Tripathi said, “As many as seven cases are registered against the accused at police stations in Ghaziabad and Rajasthan."
