Ghaziabad: A 60-year-old jeweller was allegedly robbed of Rs 2.2 lakh cash, jewellery and a licensed revolver by bike-borne assailants in Dasna area of Ghaziabad on Monday.The jeweller, Brahm Swaroop Gupta, was robbed when he was going to his shop on his Splendor motorcycle, carrying a bag containing the valuables. The robbers intercepted him and fled after snatching his bag. Brahm Swaroop Gupta, was travelling with a bag containing the valuables on a Splendor motorcycle to his shop in Dasna when he was robbed. Gupta, who lives in Delhi Gate area of Ghaziabad, has been robbed twice in the past too.Apart from the cash and revolver, the bag also contained 170 grams of gold ornaments and 300 gms of silver jewellery, Gupta told police. “I had purchased the imported revolver around 20 years ago for my safety after I had been robbed twice earlier. On Monday, three men on a motorbike intercepted me near Dhobi Ghat in Dasna and began snatching my bag. When I resisted, one of the men kicked at my bike and I fell over to one side. The man riding the bike told his accomplices to shoot at me if I resisted any further. Thereafter, they fled with my bag,” Gupta told TOI.An FIR has been lodged under Section 392 (robbery) of the IPC at Masuri police station. “We’ve obtained footages of CCTV cameras installed outside nearby colleges. The footages are not very clear and we’re trying to develop it to identify the robbers,” said Umesh Bahadur Singh, SHO. TNN
