GHAZIABAD: An 18-year-old woman , her lover and two others were arrested on Sunday evening for allegedly shooting a man dead in his sleep four days ago in Loni.Police said that a few months ago, the deceased, identified as Rashif (26), had seen the woman with her lover in a compromising position and had called locals to the spot. Since then, the woman, Shayra, had been apparently nursing a grudge against him and had asked her lover Gaje Kumar (23) to kill Rashif to prove his love. Shayra’s brother Tayyab and Gaje’s younger brother Arjun were also involved in the crime, cops said.All four lived in Chirodi village in Loni and were caught from Loni station. On July 25, around 2.30am, Rashif’s family members found him dead with a bullet injury in the head. Rashif, who worked as a labourer, was shot while he was sleeping on a cot near the entrance of his house. His wife and four children were also sleeping nearby but no one heard any gunshot. Police had initially thought Rashif might have committed suicide.SSP Vaibhav Krishna said, “Police investigation, however, revealed that it was Shayra who had instigated Gaje to avenge her humiliation in front of the entire village. He was also being pressured by her brother Tayyab and Arjun. Finally, Gaje agreed to kill Rashif. Police have also recovered the country-made pistol used in the crime.”Umesh Kumar Pandey, SHO of Loni police station, said, “Shayra and Gaje, who worked as a cook with a catering firm, were in a relationship for over a year. Gaje’s younger brother also had an affair with Shayra’s sister Salma. When the locals gathered and found Shayra and Gaje in an objectionable position, a panchayat was called to sort out the matter. However, it remained inconclusive as Rashif denied seeing them in the field, but it did not pacify the woman.”
