Three steal diesel from vehicles on EPE, held

GHAZIABAD: Three men were arrested on Monday for allegedly robbing diesel from vehicles on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway by holding their drivers hostage.The arrested persons, who are in their mid 20s, are part of a 10-member gang . The three identified as Pankaj, Pappu and Saurav were nabbed when they were transporting 14 kgs of contraband material from Delhi to Ghaziabad. “The accused used these vehicles to conduct robberies on the Expressway. The four absconding persons have been identified as Ashraf, Sadaqat, Zulfiqar and Wasim.Apart from them, three other men from Loni were arrested on Monday for illegally transporting ‘ganja’.

GHAZIABAD: Three men were arrested on Monday for allegedly robbing diesel from vehicles on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway by holding their drivers hostage.The arrested persons, who are in their mid 20s, are part of a 10-member gang . The three have been identified as Sameer, Aslam and Abid. A truck and a Scorpio have also been recovered from their possession. “The accused used these vehicles to conduct robberies on the Expressway. They had 10-15 litre drums into which they emptied the diesel from the vehicles. The truck had a fake registration number and has been traced to Nagaland. We are trying to gather information on how they possessed the truck and the SUV, which according to the records in the transport department, has changed ownership several times,” said Ghaziabad SSP Vaibhav Krishna.The three were arrested during a checking drive on the Expressway, however, four other accomplices managed to escape. The four absconding persons have been identified as Ashraf, Sadaqat, Zulfiqar and Wasim.Apart from them, three other men from Loni were arrested on Monday for illegally transporting ‘ganja’.
