GHAZIABAD: The Dilshad Garden-New Metro Bus Stand metro project — an extension of the Red Line — could be commissioned by this month-end.The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has pegged the final completion cost of the metro project at Rs 1,805 crore, down by Rs 405 crore as per the original detailed project report (DPR). “But even then the issue of GMC’s share remains, as it has declined to pay up citing paucity of funds and for that we will be meeting principal secretary in Lucknow on Friday,” added Verma.Now with the fund issue largely addressed, the commissioning of the project as per DMRC has been scheduled by the end of this month. This is likely to pave the way for early sanctioning of the project by the Union cabinet followed by the release of the Centre’s share of Rs 329 crore, officials said on Thursday.“As per original DPR, the cost of Dilshad Garden-New Metro Bus stand metro project was estimated at Rs 2,210 crore but ahead of the Union cabinet meet, the DMRC in its note to Public Investment Board (PIB) has pegged the final completion cost at Rs 1,805 crore,” Kanchan Verma, vice chairperson, GDA, told TOI. “This has also brought down the amount share of agencies and departments which are contributing to the project,” she added.As per the initial DPR, the GDA and other agencies like UP Housing Board, UPSIDC and GMC were to pay Rs 695 crore, Rs 440 crore, Rs 97 crore and Rs 246 crore, respectively, but after the scaling down of project cost, these agencies are required to pay Rs 556 crore, 358 crore, Rs 78 crore and Rs 200 crore, respectively.“The Centre’s share has also come down from Rs 402 crore to Rs 329 crore while DMRC’s comes down from Rs 328 crore to Rs 272 crore,” said Verma.
