GHAZIABAD: District magistrate Ritu Maheshwari has set February 20 as the deadline to wrap up work on the civilian terminal at the Hindon air base that the Airports Authority of India is developing under the regional connectivity scheme.The order came after Maheshwari, on Wednesday, carried out an inspection of the site where GMC, entrusted with the responsibility of installing streetlights along the road leading to the terminal, maintained that 95% work is complete. The PWD has also almost completed the road construction work.“The AAI officials informed me that civil work on the terminal was complete and as of now, work on false ceiling and fixing of glasses is going on. I was informed by AAI that 228 workers are working round-the-clock to get the work done and I have instructed them that if need arises, they should employ more workforce and get the work done by February 20,” Maheshwari told TOI.The GMC said 95% of its work was done. “We have installed 70 electric poles with 140 streetlights all along the approach road and by end of this week, we will wrap up the work,” said CP Singh, municipal commissioner. “For beautification, we have been instructed by the DM to plant palm trees on both sides of the road,” he added.The PWD, which is constructing the approach road to the terminal, said it is also almost complete. “We are waiting for weather conditions to improve and the work will take a maximum of one week,” said Manish Verma, executive engineer, PWD.
