UP govt to adopt land pooling policy to boost infra development in state

The UP cabinet recently gave its approval for adopting land pooling policy in place of land acquisition.For the last one year the UP government was studying land pooling police employed by states like Gujarat and Maharashtra. GHAZIABAD: The Uttar Pradesh government will soon adopt land pooling policy to give fillip to urban infrastructure in the state. This will spare the government of land acquisition hurdles which is not only an expensive proposition but is also cumbersome and time taking. “The land poling policy give an impetus developmental projects without in anyway compromising the interests and farmers and land owners” said Verma “After going through the nuances of land pooling police the UP cabinet has given its approval to adopt it across state” said Kanchan Verma , vice chairperson, GDA.

The UP cabinet recently gave its approval for adopting land pooling policy in place of land acquisition.For the last one year the UP government was studying land pooling police employed by states like Gujarat and Maharashtra. “After going through the nuances of land pooling police the UP cabinet has given its approval to adopt it across state” said Kanchan Verma , vice chairperson, GDA. “As per the salient features of the said policy development authority will exhort farmers to part away parcels of agricultural land to create a land pool which will the development agency will develop from agricultural holdings to urban infrastructure to cater to the needs of growing urbanisation, including housing” added Verma.The logic behind this adopting land pooling policy, Verma said that it will spare development authorities and government from investing huge amount of money in form the land acquisition which nowadays have become very expensive.“As per this policy Development Authority will utilize 40% of those land in developing basic amenities like roads, drainage parks ,streetlights, hospitals, schools etc” said Verma. “The other 40% of the developed land will be returned to the farmers or owners in the ratio contributed in the pool after appropriating costs of infrastructure and public/shared spaces but it should not be less than 25%” added Verma. “The remaining 20% of the developed land will be sold off by development authorities to recover cost on infrastructure and amenities” continued Verma.The adoption of the policy was also necessitated after land acquisition hurdles has stalled over 350 infrastructure projects in the state. “The land poling policy give an impetus developmental projects without in anyway compromising the interests and farmers and land owners” said Verma
