Minor threatened against abortion: Father

However, cops at the local police station threatened us that if we terminate the pregnancy, they would book us under anti-abortion law and send us to jail. They also said that the main accused, Mithun Yadav (23), is still absconding.The girl was studying in Class VIII in a government school in Sahibabad when she went missing on December 4, 2016.

GHAZIABAD: A day after a 15-year-old gang-rape survivor, who was kidnapped from Ghaziabad and trafficked to Punjab, delivered a baby boy in a government hospital, the girl's father said they could not terminate the pregnancy on time as they were under duress and that the police coerced the survivor into giving a statement that she had wilfully eloped with the accused. He also demanded that a DNA test be conducted to determine the father of the child. The girl, who was allegedly kidnapped from Ghaziabad on December 4, 2016, was recovered from Ludhiana in Punjab on March 10, 2017. She was found to be11-12 weeks pregnant. We could have terminated the pregnancy. Even my daughter was willing to abort the foetus. However, cops at the local police station threatened us that if we terminate the pregnancy, they would book us under anti-abortion law and send us to jail. They coerced my daughter into giving a statement that she had wilfully eloped with the accused. They had even recorded a video of my daughter in the police station in which she was seen telling that she had eloped on her own. The police were influenced in their acts by the main accused Mithun Yadav, who used to live in Indira Colony, and his close friend Aamir, who has been named as second accused in the FIR," said the girl's father, S K Bharti , a foreman.TOI met the parents of the minor at MMG Women's Hospital on Thursday. They alleged that she had been raped by two men while she was in Punjab. They wanted the administration to help them determine as to who would shoulder the responsibility for the upbringing of the baby boy. They also said that the main accused, Mithun Yadav (23), is still absconding.The girl was studying in Class VIII in a government school in Sahibabad when she went missing on December 4, 2016. The police handed over her to parents on March 10, 2017 following her recovery."We had met the then SSP Deepak Kumar in March when the cops at the local police station did not cooperate. On the SSP's intervention, the police recovered my daughter within 16 hours. A medical test conducted on her, soon after she was recovered, confirmed that she was pregnant. Our well wishers also advised us not to terminate the pregnancy. We had written to the prime minister and UP chief minister in July this year demanding justice for our daughter," the girl's father told TOI.The girl was kidnapped at around 5pm on December 4, 2016. According to her parents, three women — Pooja and her mother Sanju Devi and a neighbour, Neetu— orchestrated the girl's kidnap."My daughter narrated her ordeal after she returned home. On December 4, Pooja took my daughter outside for a plate of chowmein, following which she fell almost unconscious. Later, Pooja sold my daughter to Mithun Yadav with the help of her mother Sanju and our neighbour Neetu . Mithun took my daughter to Ludhiana by train where he kept her in the house of his uncle Rakatwa Yadav, a worker in a textiles export company. Mithun as well as Rakatwa Yadav established physical relations with my daughter. Nearly 20 days later, she called us secretly from a mobile phone. We informed police about her location but they did not investigate," said Bharti.On Sunday, a number of people visited the family at the hospital offering to adopt the baby boy. However, the family refused to part with the infant till the accused are brought to book.An FIR was registered at Sahibabad police station under sections 363 (kidnap) and 364 (kidnap for murder) of IPC on December 5, 2016. On the basis of the girl's father's complaint, police had named 10 persons as accused in the FIR including Mithun and his relatives as well some of their own relatives. The girl's family has provided her school leaving certificate to the authorities in which her date of birth has been recorded as July 8, 2002."The police had followed-up on the FIR and recovered the girl. The girl had deposed before a magistrate after her recovery during which she said she had gone with the main accused on her own volition. She had also claimed that she was an adult. She had been handed over to her family thereafter," SSP Hari Narayan Singh told TOI.
