Schoolboy kidnapped, forced to beg, sexually abused

A cop spotted him and took him to an orphanage in Haridwar, which in turn contacted the CWC office in Ghaziabad. "The boy was in a state of shock and kept on crying when he was brought to us," said CWC member Shalini Singh. "We hope that the boy's family filed a missing person report in Sahibabad police station, from where we could get his address," Singh said. He was brought to Ghaziabad on Monday, and a team has been found to trace his family.

GHAZIABAD: The district child welfare committee (CWC) is trying to locate the family of a seven-year-old boy who was recently rescued from Rishikesh.The boy, who was allegedly abducted from his school in Sahibabad about four months ago, was forced to beg on the streets of Haridwar during day and allegedly subjected to sexual abuse by his abductor at night.This went on for four months till he managed to escape. A cop spotted him and took him to an orphanage in Haridwar, which in turn contacted the CWC office in Ghaziabad. He was brought to Ghaziabad on Monday, and a team has been found to trace his family."The boy was in a state of shock and kept on crying when he was brought to us," said CWC member Shalini Singh. "It took a lot of time before he opened up in front of our counselors. We were shocked when he narrated his ordeal."The boy said he studies in Class 2 in a school in Sahibabad, and lived with his four siblings and mother, who works in a pressure cooker manufacturing factory. "In the first week of August, he had just come out from his school when a man in his late forties offered him cold drink, which he accepted," Singh said."The boy said he lost consciousness soon after. When he woke up, he found himself in a house on a hilltop. From that day, he was forced to beg during the day, while his abductor kept a watch on him. At night he was subjected to sexual abuse." A medical examination confirmed that the boy was indeed subjected to sexual abuse.The boy told his counselors that he lost count of days, and his ordeal continued till the day he overheard his abductor saying that he planned to take the boy to another place. "That night, the boy managed to escape and ran away. He said he remembers passing through Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh. He had been loitering around in Rishekesh for a few days when he was spotted by a female cop. She took him to a police station, from where he was taken to a shelter home. The boy was brought to the CWC office in Ghaziabad on Monday after he said he is from Sahibabad," Singh told TOI.In a bid to identify the boy and his family, a CWC team took him to several Sahibabad localities on Monday. Missing persons reports in Sahibabad police station are also being scanned. "We hope that the boy's family filed a missing person report in Sahibabad police station, from where we could get his address," Singh said.
