During the investigation, it was found that a dispute over a transport contract led to the attack. “I used to greet the manager, and never interacted with him other than that,” said Singh.Joginder said his relatives’ efforts paid off.

GURUGRAM: Joginder, a former employee of a Japanese company employee, and his uncle Dayachand , who were arrested for allegedly shooting at the human resource (HR) manager of the firm, walked out of jail on Tuesday after a court cleared them. Joginder claimed he was implicated in the case as his uncle had a minor argument with HR manager Dinesh Sharma when he had gone to Sharma seeking a job a day before the attack. The duo were lodged in Bhondsi jail for 28 days, and sent to police custody for three days. “On June 7, I was asked to join the investigation. I was not afraid as I didn’t do anything wrong. During the interrogation, I would be arrested,” Joginder said.A preliminary investigation had revealed that Joginder, a former employee of the company, harboured a grudge against Dinesh for dismissing him from the job. “This is wrong. I had worked for the company for three years, and I was told my training ended on June 2. My uncle Dayachand had gone to meet the HR manager a day before the attack. He had only asked him for a job. To this, the manager said no, following which a minor argument ensued. That’s why the HR manager named me and my uncle,” said Singh.Singh studied in Laxmi Senior Secondary School in Rathiwas, and did a course in polytechnic in Kurukshetra before joining the Japanese firm . He worked in the company’s maintenance department. “I used to greet the manager, and never interacted with him other than that,” said Singh.Joginder said his relatives’ efforts paid off. They, he said, collected the CCTV footage from GIT College and submitted to DCP Sumit Kumar, who assured them of justice. “As a family, it was hard for us to believe that Joginder and Dayachand were behind the bars. We went to the spot where the HR manager was attacked. We noticed the CCTV cameras of GIT College there. We requested the college authorities for the footage, to which they agreed. Later, elders in the family met the DCP and handed over the footage, which revealed that Joginder was not at the spot when the manager was shot by the assailants. Had the police investigated the case properly, Joginder and Daya would not have been imprisoned,” said Joginder’s grandfather Charna. Joginder got married in March and lives with his family in Rathiwas.A special investigation team (SIT) was formed under the DCP (crime) on June 14 to probe the attack on the Japanese firm’s manager. During the investigation, it was found that a dispute over a transport contract led to the attack. Fearing loss of contract, Charan Singh — a resident of Pathredi village — had plotted the attack. Contractor Charan Singh and his accomplice Rajesh were arrested on June 25. Krishan (28) — who works as a bouncer in a city pub — was hired by Singh for shooting Sharma. “I have never known the people who have been arrested earlier,” Singh had told cops.Even though he was cleared of all charges, Jonginder doesn’t want to go back to his previous company. “There’s no point in going back there. I will find another job,” he said.
