Hisar: Ambulance driver takes patient to private hospital instead of govt, booked

HISAR: Police booked an ambulance driver here on Thursday for transporting an accident victim to a private hospital instead of a government hospital to get commission. The probe showed that ambulance driver Sonu deliberately took the patient to a private hospital. “Whenever wounded person is brought into emergency, persons associated with private hospital also come and try and talk to the kin of the patient into shifting him or her to private hospital at the earliest,” they said. “Private hospitals give commission from the patients’ bill to all from ambulance driver to doctor. Probe also found that he had been Sonu had been taking many patients to private hospitals.Sources said that it was not one off incident.

HISAR: Police booked an ambulance driver here on Thursday for transporting an accident victim to a private hospital instead of a government hospital to get commission. Action was taken against private ambulance driver Bhupender alias Sonu, resident of Talwandi Rana village, after a complaint by the kin of accident victim.Hisar police spokesperson Harish Bhardwaj said that a case has been registered against Sonu under section 417 (Punishment for cheating) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the IPC on the complaint of Hisar’s deputy civil surgeon Dr Jaya Goyal. Police were informed after Dr Goyal inquired into the complaint received on CM window, which was lodged by Vinod, a resident of Bhatia colony of Tohana in Fatehabad district.Vinod had submitted his complaint to the CM window on May 1 and said that his cousin Deepak was injured in an accident at a resort in Hisar. A passerby admitted him to the civil hospital and Dr Sanjeev, who was on duty in the emergency, gives primary treatment to him.After that he received call from hospital that Deepak’s condition was serious and he was being shifted to the Government Medical College, Agroha. He soon reach the Agroha medical college with other family members and asked about Deepak but the staff told that no one patient by that name had been brought there.After this they reached the civil hospital and inquired about the matter and came to know that caller was ambulance driver and he has admitted Deepak to a private hospital located at Rajgarh road in Hisar. The private ambulance driver was told to take the patient to Agroha medical college specifically, doctors told the family.It was said in the complaint that when they talked to on duty doctor Sanjeev and lab technician Sandeep, who were present in the emergency of general hospital, they did not give any clear reply.After district health department received the complaint from CM window, Dr Ratna Bharti and Dr Jaya Goyal were asked to probe the matter. The probe showed that ambulance driver Sonu deliberately took the patient to a private hospital. Probe also found that he had been Sonu had been taking many patients to private hospitals.Sources said that it was not one off incident. “Whenever wounded person is brought into emergency, persons associated with private hospital also come and try and talk to the kin of the patient into shifting him or her to private hospital at the earliest,” they said. “Private hospitals give commission from the patients’ bill to all from ambulance driver to doctor. This type of incident also came to notice in a district grievance redressal meeting but police have registered a criminal case for the first time,” police sources said.
