Haryana government increases stamp paper charges

AMBALA: To increase the revenue in the state, Haryana government has increased stamp paper charges. These increased charges will be applicable in the entire state from the month of October.The govt has increased the charges from Rs 100 to Rs 2000. "The decision to increase these charges was passed on the last day of the monsoon session of the Haryana Legislative Assembly this year. The realtors are now planning to unite and stand against the government on this decision.With the motive to increase the revenue, earlier the Congress government had also increased the charges of stamped paper from Rs 10 to Rs 100, and now the present govt has increased these charges from Rs 100 to Rs 2000. The Ambala district has five Tehsildar offices, including Ambala city, Ambala Cantonment, Barara, Naraingarh, and Saha, where every day public obtain more than 100 different types of agreements.

It is mostly required in various types of agreements, power of attorney, divorce papers, and nearly nine more such deed documents.The realtors and the people of Ambala are opposing the decision as they think that it will increase an additional burden on them. These increased charges will be applicable in the entire state from the month of October.The govt has increased the charges from Rs 100 to Rs 2000. The Ambala district will have to bear more as the registrations of the properties are already stopped here, and most of the sale and purchase of the property is done on the basis of agreement. The Ambala district has five Tehsildar offices, including Ambala city, Ambala Cantonment, Barara, Naraingarh, and Saha, where every day public obtain more than 100 different types of agreements. This will surely increase the revenue of the state government, but common man will have to bear this heavy burden.Especially, the realtors are not happy with the decision as the property business is already facing recession and in the past property dealers in Ambala have committed suicides. The realtors are now planning to unite and stand against the government on this decision.With the motive to increase the revenue, earlier the Congress government had also increased the charges of stamped paper from Rs 10 to Rs 100, and now the present govt has increased these charges from Rs 100 to Rs 2000. The charges for the transfer deed to a blood relation will remain as it was, but the charges for the agreement have been increased.Ashok Goyal, a Property Dealer based in Ambala said, "The common man is the one to bear these increased charges, and the property businesses will definitely receive a hit after the implementation of these charges, the decision should be taken back by the government."Rajesh Punia, Tehsildar, Ambala Cantonment said, "So far we have not received any orders or guidelines in this regard from the department, I have read the news in newspapers, that such charges may be revised from the month of October. At this moment I cannot confirm any details."The decision to increase these charges was passed on the last day of the monsoon session of the Haryana Legislative Assembly this year.
