GURUGRAM: A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly molesting three girls on Thursday morning.He first tried to molest a Class 8 girl who fought back and fled, then molested another girl and her sister from the same class. However, the latter ran to her house and called her brother who caught the accused and handed him over to police.The students were walking home from school around 11:30am on Thursday in Surat Nagar colony when Aakash, a native of UP’s Azamgarh and resident of Delhi’s Badarpur area who was heavily drunk at the time, succesively tried to sexually assault them. He found his first victim in a secluded street and grabbed her from behind. However, the girl thrashed the accused with her slipper and freed herself from his clutches.Aakash waited till he spotted another girl in the same street and dragged her into the bushes in an attenpt to rape her. The student’s sister was walking some distance behind her and soon spotted them. She tried to rescue her sister but Aakash started molesting her, too. So, she escaped and ran to her house where she told her brother what had happened. He reached the spot, rescued his sister and thrashed Aakash before calling police.A police team, including a woman sub-inspector, reached the spot and took custody of Aakash who, they said, was in a drunk state. On the complaint of the father of the two sisters, an FIR was registered under Section 8 of the POCSO Act at the Rajendra park police station and police formally arrested the accused.Police said that he had been living with his father in Delhi’s Badarpur area. “He is a contractual labourer who was working in a factory in the area. He has claimed that he tried to sexually assault the girls because he was in an inebriated state,” said sub inspector Harmesh, additional SHO, Rajendra Park police station.
