The police said a few days before the crime, Nishu and Manish had travelled to Kota, where they had stayed in an accommodation rented by Pankaj. He had visited the crime scene only after being called by the accused when the condition of the woman deteriorated. But the court rejected the plea saying a non-bailable warrant was not possible under this section, after which cops withdrew the application. The cops told the court that this person had visited the room, where the survivor was held captive and raped, though it was not yet clear whether he raped her or not. REWARI: The police remand of Nishu , an accused in the gang rape of a 19-year-old woman on September 12 in Naya Gaon, has been extended by four days, even as the two other prime suspects — Pankaj and Manish — are still at large. The SIT, probing the gruesome crime, also sought a non-bailable warrant against another suspect, hinting at more arrests in coming days.

The Kanina court of sub-divisional judicial magistrate Piyush Sharma rejected the plea. Also, Deendayal, the owner of the room where the woman was sexually assaulted in Naya Gaon, and Sanjeev, a registered medical practitioner who was called to the crime scene to examine the survivor by the suspects, were sent to 14-day judicial custody to Naseebpur prison in Narnaul. The two were arrested for criminal conspiracy and concealment of crime. However, the court permitted the two to appear through video-conferencing on October 5, when their judicial custody ends, to “avoid the hassle of travelling and providing them security”.Seeking an extension of the police remand for Nishu, the SIT told the court that Pankaj and Manish were suspected to be hiding in Rajasthan’s Kota. The police said a few days before the crime, Nishu and Manish had travelled to Kota, where they had stayed in an accommodation rented by Pankaj. The cops now plan to travel to Kota with Nishu to identify the place and gather evidence if any.Advocate Savinder Singh Yadav, representing Nishu, opposed the extension of the remand, which was overruled by the court saying Pankaj and Manish were wanted in a heinous crime and needed to be arrested at the earliest. Sources said the police had earlier recovered a mobile phone and some glucose bottles following inputs given by Nishu.Advocate Sandeep Yadav moved a bail application for Sanjeev, arguing that the medical practitioner was not named in the FIR. He had visited the crime scene only after being called by the accused when the condition of the woman deteriorated. The SIT would would reply to it on September 25.The police had also moved an application, seeking a non-bailable warrant under Section 202 (intentional omission to give information of offence by person bound to inform) of the IPC against a person, whose identity was not revealed during the proceedings. The cops told the court that this person had visited the room, where the survivor was held captive and raped, though it was not yet clear whether he raped her or not. But the court rejected the plea saying a non-bailable warrant was not possible under this section, after which cops withdrew the application.
