GURUGRAM: Police on Wednesday conducted raids at more than 100 places in Gurugram, Faridabad, Delhi and different parts of UP, in search of Sunil (20), the prime suspect in the case of the rape and murder of the three-year-old in the city. They are conducting day and night combing operations at slums, construction sites and possible hideouts in Gurugram as well.According to police, the accused is frequently changing his location and avoiding using his mobile phone for fear of being tracked.They also shared pictures of the accused with different police teams. “We’re raiding suspected hideouts of the accused, including homes of relatives and people known to him,” said ACP (crime) Shamsher Singh, adding they are also checking all places he had visited in the past. So far they haven’t got any solid clue, but are hoping to arrest him at the earliest. The investigation has revealed the accused was not new to Gurugram. In 2015, he had lived near Gurugram Bus Stand and worked as a daily labourer, before returning to his village in UP, where he worked as a labourer.He reappeared in Gurugram around Diwali and started living at his sister’s place in the slum, where the victim also lived with her parents.Police have also collected CCTV footage from a residential society in Sector 66, in which the accused was captured. In it, the accused can be seen walking with the victim on Sunday afternoon. He was also seen entering the room used for storing cattle fodder in Sector 66 and emerging alone from it. The naked, mutilated body of the minor was found inside the very room on Monday.The victim was playing outside her home. Her parents were away at work, when the accused lured her away promising to buy her chocolates. The parents realised their child was missing only after they returned home after work, when they launched a search along with their neighbours. The minor’s body was recovered the next morning.
