ROHTAK: Representatives of CPIM Mayoral candidate Dr Jagmati Sangwan met with the Election Observer Brijender Singh to register a complaint regarding massive confusion caused to the voters due to clubbing of both EVMs for Mayor and MC election.Voters reported that the first machine put for the Mayoral polling is not beeping after they cast their vote. It is only after they press a button on the second machine, which is for MC election, that there is a beep. Senior leader of the CPI(M) Inderjit Singh asked the administration how a vote would be registered in case someone does not want to poll the second vote for MC position? “A voter can not be forced to poll the second vote if he/she does not want to. They must also not be asked to press NOTA if they don’t want to.”He also pointed out that there are complaints of widespread confusion regarding both elections taking place at the same time as direct Mayor election is taking place for for the first time. “The administration has done very little to spread awareness regarding this election, which has led to this situation.”It should also be noted that a written complaint was sent to the RO and the state election commission expressing similar apprehensions. However, no action was taken on that.
