GURUGRAM: The two carjackers arrested in Farrukhnagar on Wednesday teamed up after meeting in Bhondsi jail and used stolen vehicles to rob liqour vends on the outskirts of the city, police said.Anujvir (23) from Rohtak and Hitesh (24) from Gadoli village had been working with various gangs but did not know each other till they landed up in the same jail. After a series of crimes together, the duo was finally arrested after snatching a car on the Dwarka Expressway The accused, who were standing on the expressway, had intercepted a Maruti Ciaz going towards Sector 92 and forced the driver to hand over the car at gunpoint. A police team reached the spot after being informed of the crime and nabbed the duo after a brief chase and gunfight . During an exchange of fire, a bullet hit Anujvir in his left leg. He was discharged from hospital after treatment.Police said the two came in contact while they were imprisoned in Bhondsi jail. After they were released five months ago, they committed a number of crimes. In the past five months, they robbed a health supplement shop in Rohtak, snatched a Maruti Breeza from Hayatpur in November and robbed a few liquor vends, among other crimes. Police said they worked with different gangs — including Kranti, Vidrohi and Gadoli — but specialised in looting liquor vends.ACP (crime) Shamsher Singh said their modus operandi was to snatch a vehicle at gunpoint and use that vehicle to commit robberies at liquor vends. “After committing a few crimes in this manner, they used to sell the vehicle and snatch another for the next crime,” said Singh.The duo was produced in court on Thursday and sent to six days of police remand. Singh said that they were expecting to get more details about the crimes during interrogation. Cops are also trying to find out if more members are associated with the duo.Around 13 cases of snatching and robbery have been registered against Anujvir in Gurgaon and Rohtak. Meanwhile, Hitesh has two cases filed againt him — one related to shooting at a villager in Gadoli in 2016 and another related to a dispute in the same village.On Wednesday, two separate cases were registered against the duo at Sector 10 and Farukhnagar police stations.
