Security up in Rohtak ahead of dera verdict

ROHTAK: A high alert has been issued in Rohtak on the eve of verdict related to godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh lodged at Sunaria Jail complex at Sunaria Kalan here. Security has also been stepped up near the Sunaria jail where Gurmeet is serving 20 years jail term after being convicted for raping two women disciples by the same CBI court in August 2018. Sources said that police were keeping special tab on Panipat-Chandigarh highway suspecting the entry of dera followers through this route. Police have also activated its IT cell to keep a tab on spreading of rumours on social media. Police have intensfied patrolling at sensitive spots and started scanning the vehicles going towards Sunaria jail.All vehicles registeration numbers are being recorded before letting them pass close to the jail premises.

A CBI court will deliver its verdict in case of murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati on Friday in which Sirsa-based dera Sacha Sauda chief is an accused.SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa told media that all the SHOs had been directed to be on on high alert and maintain law and order. Security has also been stepped up near the Sunaria jail where Gurmeet is serving 20 years jail term after being convicted for raping two women disciples by the same CBI court in August 2018. Police have intensfied patrolling at sensitive spots and started scanning the vehicles going towards Sunaria jail.All vehicles registeration numbers are being recorded before letting them pass close to the jail premises. Sources said that police were keeping special tab on Panipat-Chandigarh highway suspecting the entry of dera followers through this route. Police personnel have been deputed at toll points to scan the activities through CCTV cameras.The elected village representatives have also been asked to remain alert and inform of any suspicious activity or assembly of people during the period. Police have also activated its IT cell to keep a tab on spreading of rumours on social media. “Any message containing inflammatory speech or potential to create unrest in public will be scrutinised and due action would be taken against the dispatchers,” police added.To report any suspicious or anti-social elements, police have also released control room numbers 01262-100, 247894, 9996464100.
