Teams from Argentina and India turn competitive at the Ambassador’s Cup Polo Match

Called the Ambassador’s Cup Polo Match, the game was played between the Argentinian All Stars Polo Team and the La Pegasus India Polo Team, featuring some of the leading players from both the countries. The friendly game was played as part of the five-time world champions’ three test match polo tour to India, which began in December. The La Pegasus Polo Centre on the outskirts of Gurgaon was abuzz with activity recently as some of the best polo players in the world converged on the quaint polo ground for an exhibition game. Eduardo Novillo Estrada said, “It was a game between the leading polo nation in the world and the country that gave birth to the sport. Even though it was billed at as a friendly, the game was quite competitive with the Indian side edging the Argentinian All-Stars by an 11-10 margin.

The event was hosted by the Argentine Ambassador Daniel Chuburu. The friendly game was played as part of the five-time world champions’ three test match polo tour to India, which began in December. The two teams’ line-ups featured a nice twist as Eduardo Novillo Estrada, the President of the Argentine Polo Association and a leading player himself, captained the Indians, while Samir Suhag captained the Argentinian All-Stars. Even though it was billed at as a friendly, the game was quite competitive with the Indian side edging the Argentinian All-Stars by an 11-10 margin. “There is no such thing as a friendly in sport. It was quite competitive out there and great fun,” Samir said after the game. Eduardo Novillo Estrada said, “It was a game between the leading polo nation in the world and the country that gave birth to the sport.
