There are 5,000 private schools in the state, and 4,562 have not submitted their Form 6 , which contains details of the fee structure and other relevant information. The 26 schools of the city are among the 4,500-odd schools.Form 6 was introduced by the Haryana government in 2003. It contains details about students, strength of staff, income, expenditure, fee structure or plans to revise it and other facilities provided by the school. Until now, schools that did not submit the form would be issued showcause notices and several reminders by the education department. This time, however, the department plans to take “strict action”.District elementary education officer Prem Lata Yadav said, “This form needs to be filled with all relevant information about the fee structure of private schools. Till now, we haven’t received a detailed list from the school education board. The moment we do, strict action will be taken against schools that have not filed the forms.”The decision to take “strict action” against the 26 schools comes close on the heels of protests by parents against arbitrary hike in fees. There had been several protests by parents’ organisations last year over hike in fees on some pretext or the other.
