Gurugaman to roll out 20 more buses, launch third route on February 16

Earlier, 20 buses were rolled out on this route, but now only 10 buses ply between Ghata and Krishna Chowk. The second bus route was to be launched in October 2018. Other 10 buses from this route will be diverted to the route connecting Krishna Chowk with Shankar Chowk, said sources in GMCBL.

GURUGRAM: The third route of the Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) will be launched on February 16 after a delay of almost three months, with a fleet of 20 low-floor, non-AC passenger coaches that will ply between Garhi Harsaru and Dundahera The first bus on the route — number 215 — will start from Garhi Harsaru around 6am every day and cover Housing Board Colony, Model Town, Bus Stand, DLF Colony, Anamika Enclave, Sukhrali Enclave and Maruti Suzuki area before reaching Dundahera. The last bus will start at 8.40pm from Garhi Harsaru and reach Dundahera at 9.40pm.“This route will cover areas in the old city, and the buses will run at a frequency of 10 minutes,” said a GMCBL official. GMCBL CEO Chandrashekhar Khare did not reply to phone calls and messages.According to the authorities, a total of 500 city buses will be inducted on all 25 routes in phases. In the first phase, 200 buses will be rolled out on 11 routes, including those launched so far. A GMCBL official told TOI that these 200 buses would be inducted by the summer of 2019. However, meeting the deadline would be a big challenge for the authorities which have been delaying the launches of new routes.Owing to bad response the GMBCL has been receiving on the route number 112— the second route — it has made changes on it. Earlier, 20 buses were rolled out on this route, but now only 10 buses ply between Ghata and Krishna Chowk. Other 10 buses from this route will be diverted to the route connecting Krishna Chowk with Shankar Chowk, said sources in GMCBL. Most buses running on the route are almost empty though they cover some important parts of the city such as Golf course Road, Udyog Vihar and Palam Vihar.According to commuters, buses on the route do not ply via metro stations. However, it was delayed by a month and a half owing to delay in setting up of the bus depot in sectors 53-54The first city bus route connects Huda City Centre with Sector 10. The fare structure of the third route is the same as that of the first route. The fare will be Rs 10 for the first 10 stops, Rs 20 between the 10th and 20th stops and Rs 30 thereafter.
