Gurgaon: Two vehicle lifters , wanted for stealing an SUV from opposite Ambience Mall on February 7, were arrested on Thursday. Manjeet, a resident of Asoda village in Jhajjar district and Rahul alias Monu, who is from Krishan Vihar in Delhi, have confessed to stealing four cars — three in Gurgaon and one in Delhi. According to police, the duo was earlier arrested by Delhi Police for allegedly carrying illegal weapons. Also, six armed robbery cases were registered against them in Delhi, Rohtak and Gurgaon.Around 9pm on February 7, the duo held the driver of the SUV belonging to a businessman from Punjab at gunpoint and forced him to start the car.They snatched Rs 3,000 cash from the driver and then dumped him in Delhi’s Najafgarh. However, the car was equipped with a push button sensor which was left behind in the driver’s pocket. At a later point, when the accused stopped the car, they couldn’t restart it and had to abandon it. Police recovered the SUV but the duo had escaped.Based on a complaint by the businessman, an FIR was filed against them under sections 392 (robbery), 365 (kidnap) of IPC and sections 25-54-59 of Arms Act at the DLF 3 police station. The Sushant Lok crime unit was investigating the case and a team headed by its head inspector Vishal Gaurav arrested them.
