Ambala: 1,800 boxes of illegal liquor seized in Saha, 2 held

The liquor traders have connived with a factory owner his employees to transport it on a forged excise permit. The actual permit was issued for a vehicle with number HR37D2499 but the liquor traders showed it's status as break down and loaded the liquor in another truck bearing HR37D0380 number. AMBALA: Police have registered two separate cases under Section 120-B, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 61 of the Punjab Excise Act after recovering 1,800 boxes of illicit country-made liquor from two trucks early on Saturday.“The illicit liquor was being transported from village Badhouli factory to Sonepat. The actual permit was issued for a vehicle with number HR61C1766 but the liquor traders showed the status of the vehicle as break down and loaded the liquor in another truck bearing HR66B7470 number. The liquor traders have connived with a factory owner his employees to transport it on a forged excise permit. Acting on a tip-off, a check post was set up near Saha Chowk and the truck was spotted. A total of 900 boxes of Raseela Santra brand liquor have been recovered from the vehicle,” the first FIR stated.As per the second FIR, “the illicit liquor was being transported from village Badhouli factory to Gharaunda. The actual permit was issued for a vehicle with number HR37D2499 but the liquor traders showed it's status as break down and loaded the liquor in another truck bearing HR37D0380 number. Acting on a tip-off, a check post was set up near T-Point of Industrial Area in Saha where the concerned vehicle was spotted. A total of 900 boxes of Raseela Santra brand liquor have been recovered from the vehicle.”In both the cases, the vehicle drivers identified as Jiya Lal and Vikram Singh have been arrested after registering the case under relevant sections of the law.The investigation of this case is being done by CIA-1 of the district police.
