Karnal: Nine boys hurt in a group clash at juvenile home

KARNAL: The dispute between the inmates at a boys’ shelter home for juveniles in Madhuban on Saturday late night went out of control vandalising property and injuring nine children. Some inmates reportedly tried to flee the premises, but were nabbed.The police and fire bridge reached the spot and controlled the violent children. Angry boys broke a computer, toilet door and windows of the shelter home office. Superintendent Surinder Singh Bhoria said some 32 inmates have been booked for violence, vandalism and arson.

KARNAL: The dispute between the inmates at a boys’ shelter home for juveniles in Madhuban on Saturday late night went out of control vandalising property and injuring nine children. Angry boys broke a computer, toilet door and windows of the shelter home office. They also tried to set documents and furniture on fire. Some inmates reportedly tried to flee the premises, but were nabbed.The police and fire bridge reached the spot and controlled the violent children. The injured boys were rushed to the hospital. The safety home has 105 juvenile inmates.Member of the juvenile board, Charan Singh, deputy commissioner (DC) Vinay Pratap Singh, Gharaunda sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Gaurav Kumar, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Ramdutt, visited the safety house on Sunday to inquire into the matter.DC Vinay Pratap has ordered a magisterial inquiry into Saturday’s violence. SDM Kumar will head the inquiry panel. Superintendent Surinder Singh Bhoria said some 32 inmates have been booked for violence, vandalism and arson. He also claimed that some inmates tried to escape after the violence, but were caught. The nine injured children were referred to Ambala . The police has registered a case against all the 105 detainees, including 32 nominations, on the complaint of Bhoria.SDM Kumar said that the clash was triggered by an argument between two groups. Nine children had received minor injuries. According to him, five employees were present during the dispute. He said that increasing the staff strength is being considered to prevent such incidences in future.According to sources, the safety house has 15 inmates who are accused of heinous crimes.
