Haryana government confers Gaurav Samman upon 19 Pravasi Haryanvis

On this occasion, Haryana also launched entertainment television channel 'Andy Channel', and released directories of Pravasi Haryanvis and delegates of Pravasi Haryana Divas, as well as of philanthropists. GURUGRAM: The Haryana government conferred Gaurav Samman upon 19 Pravasi Haryanvis for their outstanding contributions in various fields at the first ever Pravasi Haryana Divas in Gurugram on Wednesday.The awards were presented by Union minister of state for external affairs General (rtd) VK Singh, Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Krishan Pal and Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar Those awarded included noted actor Randeep Hooda and singer Sonu Nigam. "The participation of Pravasi Haryanvi business leaders and domestic industry leaders stands testimony to the immense interest in the opportunities offered by the state," she said.Former Prime Minister, Fiji, Mr. Mahendra Pal Chaudhry also spoke on this occasion. Among sports personalities who were felicitated in the event included former captain of Indian women's cricket team Anjum Chopra, international athlete Naveen Suhag and former captain Indian women's Hockey Team Mamta Kharab.While speaking on the occasion, Singh stressed on the need for taking strict action against such persons who dupe innocent people on the pretext of sending them abroad.Khattar urged the Pravasi Haryanvis to adopt villages under the Swa-prerit Adarsh Gram Yojana for their development and to also encourage others to do the same.Chairperson, CII Northern Region, Rumjhum Chatterjee, said that the mega event had been organised with the objective to catalyse partnerships in economic, social and cultural spheres.
