GURUGRAM: Faulty machinery at the boosting station aggravated water scarcity in sectors 5, 6 and 7 on Tuesday. Residents in these sectors alleged that three of the four pumping machines in the boosting station haven't been working, leading to recurring water shortage in these sectors. "Over the last 10 days, there has been a shortage of water supply. Water supply gets affected only owing to power cuts or technical snag." Residents alleged that incessant power cuts and unregulated power supply at the boosting station also added to their problems.

GURUGRAM: Faulty machinery at the boosting station aggravated water scarcity in sectors 5, 6 and 7 on Tuesday. Residents in these sectors alleged that three of the four pumping machines in the boosting station haven't been working, leading to recurring water shortage in these sectors."Over the last 10 days, there has been a shortage of water supply. If the machines are not repaired, the problem is most likely to recur," Dinesh Vashisht, RWA president, Sector 5 said. The water supply was handed over to MCG from Huda in the area recently. Residents alleged that incessant power cuts and unregulated power supply at the boosting station also added to their problems."We have been facing water scarcity for almost 10 days now, and hardly get water for at least 30 minutes a day. On some days, the supply gets affected owing to erratic power supply, and on days when power is not interrupted, water supply gets affected," said Sanjay Luthra, a resident from Sector 5.The residents also complained that the water pipelines in their area burst almost every month as officials fail to upgrade the capacity of the pipelines to avoid such situations, especially during summer."Water supply has been better for last couple of days. However, it is unlikely to last. Unless the authorities upgrade the infrastructure as per the requirements, the problem will persist," said Gaurav Narang, a resident of Sector 6.Last month as well, a pipeline had burst near Basai, leading to water crisis in these sectors. This often occurs, according to residents, because the water travels from a lower level area to a higher level as opposed to its natural flow.In an attempt to ensure that the areas at higher level get sufficient water with sufficient pressure, Huda releases water with great pressure to its already exhausted water pipeline.Asked if the municipal authorities are taking any steps to fix the problem, an MCG official said, "There is no infrastructure deficit at our end. Water supply gets affected only owing to power cuts or technical snag."
