Himalayan Region Games to be held in Guwahati from April 21

The Region Games will include various sporting disciplines like, archery, athletics, boxing, fencing, football, judo, kho-kho, squash, table tennis and weightlifting. Speaking of the Games, the President of IOA, N Ramamchandran said: "It is great that we are hosting the Himalayan Games in Guwahati this year. Rajeev Mehta , secretary general of the IOA said, "The government has extended its support in helping us make sports popular in the Himalayan region as well. MUMBAI: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA), on Thursday, announced that the Himalayan Region Games will be held in Guwahati, Assam between April 21-30 this year.Five countries including Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Afghanistan and India will be participating in the 10-day event. We want to make sports as popular as possible in every part of the country and build the legacy of sports."

MUMBAI: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA), on Thursday, announced that the Himalayan Region Games will be held in Guwahati, Assam between April 21-30 this year.Five countries including Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Afghanistan and India will be participating in the 10-day event. The Region Games will include various sporting disciplines like, archery, athletics, boxing, fencing, football, judo, kho-kho, squash, table tennis and weightlifting. The events planned to take place during the sports meet will encourage more and more people to come forward and take part in sports. This will also help make sports a part of life in every Indian. We are hoping to put up a great show."Guwahati has become a popular sporting destination in the country of late and has hosted a number of major events including the South Asian Games in 2016 and the National Games a few years earlier.DR Chaudhary has been appointed the chairman of the Technical Conduct Committee for the Himalayan Games. Speaking of the Games, the President of IOA, N Ramamchandran said: "It is great that we are hosting the Himalayan Games in Guwahati this year. The North East region of our country has given the world many sports legends. We want to make sports as popular as possible in every part of the country and build the legacy of sports."
