Goa governor tells youths to have at least two children

BELAGAVI: Goa governor Mridula Sinha called upon youths and students not to stop just at a single child but go for a second one. It’s an everevolving process of learning which enables one broaden his/her perspective.Sinha, chancellor Prabhakar Kore and vice-chancellor Dr Vivek Saoji awarded gold medals and certificates to rank holders. In all, 49 gold medals were awarded. However, youths are losing their sense of empathy.She said education is neither literacy nor a collection of degrees. Sinha, who has written several books, said all youths should get married.

BELAGAVI: Goa governor Mridula Sinha called upon youths and students not to stop just at a single child but go for a second one. Kids must learn to share in childhood itself and this is possible if there are at least two children at home, she said.She was the chief guest at the 8th convocation of the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (deemed-to-be university) on Tuesday. Sinha, who has written several books, said all youths should get married. She got students to pledge that they would not send their parents to old-age homes and take care of their spouses.“Older people often say the younger generation has no respect for human values, but my experience is different. Today’s youngsters are more responsible, realistic and have foresight. This is because of India’s sanskar which starts when a child is in her mother’s womb,” she said. However, youths are losing their sense of empathy.She said education is neither literacy nor a collection of degrees. It’s an everevolving process of learning which enables one broaden his/her perspective.Sinha, chancellor Prabhakar Kore and vice-chancellor Dr Vivek Saoji awarded gold medals and certificates to rank holders. In all, 49 gold medals were awarded. Degree certificates were given to 1,290 candidates, including 18 PhD, 12 postdoctoral, 348 postgraduates, 754 undergraduates, 121 PG diplomas, 28 certificate courses, 6 fellowship programmes and 3 diplomas.
