Mudhol bandh gets good response

BAGALKOT: The Mudhol bandh call given by Taluk Sugarcane Growers’ Association on Friday got a massive response from farmers who staged protests against non-payment of bills. They took out a bike rally on the main roads of city. The agitators blocked the highway at Shirol village, and burnt the effigy of chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.Meanwhile, advocates of Mudhol Taluk Bar Association also extended their supported to the strike by boycotting court proceedings. They also sought support price to their produce.Cane growers blocked roads at various places in the taluk and burnt tyres to vent thei r ire. Buses did not ply as a precaution, while schools and colleges remained closed.The agitating farmers stopped a truck when it was transporting sugarcane despite the bandh.

E ven though Friday was shandy day in the town, the protest saw almost all shops closed. Even private vehicles and public transport were off the roads. Buses did not ply as a precaution, while schools and colleges remained closed.The agitating farmers stopped a truck when it was transporting sugarcane despite the bandh. They also deflated its tyre at Mirji village.The protest was severe at Sangolli Rayanna Circle on Belgavi-Vijayapura highway. A huge rally, which started at the junction, went through the main streets of the city. The agitators blocked the highway at Shirol village, and burnt the effigy of chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.Meanwhile, advocates of Mudhol Taluk Bar Association also extended their supported to the strike by boycotting court proceedings. They took out a bike rally on the main roads of city.
