HC takes on record panel report on HCA affairs

A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K.Vijaya Lakshmi on Monday took on record the report filed by the Administrators Committee appointed by the High Court on the affairs of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). All the parties to the pending PIL would get a copy of the report and the case would be listed after three weeks. Glancing at the report, the bench commented that something more was to be done to comply with all the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee.

The bench was dealing with a PIL filed by practising advocate and cricketer Govind Reddy, seeking direction to the HCA and the BCCI to ensure that the Justice Lodha Committee recommendations accepted by the Supreme Court were implemented and things set right. When a test match was about to be held and in view of the seriousness of the allegations, a committee of administrators was appointed last year. Justice A. R. Glancing at the report, the bench commented that something more was to be done to comply with all the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee. Weightage to contract staff The division bench observed that it would like to expeditiously decide the dispute arising out of the decision of the Telangana government to grant weightage to contract employees while filling vacancies in several departments. The bench was dealing with cases filed by unemployed youth. They complained that weightage marks were being given to a tune of 20 while filling vacancies in the cadre of staff nurse, medical officer, civil assistant surgeon, and engineer in the TRANSCO. The petitioners submitted that not just contract employees but outsourced employees were also being given weightage. The single judge referred the matter to the bench. The bench directed the government to file counter by next Monday.
