10 foreigners held for illegal stay

Radha Kishan Rao said a nine-hour drive was conducted in Tolichowki, Golconda, Asif Nagar and Banjara Hills with the help of Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO). “We were able to trace 45 persons, mostly from Nigeria, Sudan and Somalia, staying illegally here even after expiry of their visas and passports,” he said. Mr. Rao said FRRO would regulate the visas of 35 people, since most are students. However, 10 persons have committed major violation by staying in India even after their passports and visas expired. “FRRO will send a notice to police to deport them to their respective countries,” he said, adding 10 persons were detained by Asif Nagar, Golconda, Banjara Hills and Langar Houz police. Further, he said that the Task Force would conduct such drives regularly to identify those violating the Foreigners Act.
