more-in The State Government has decided to create a new corporation — Telangana State Farmers’ Coordination Committee (TSFCC). The proposed corporation is aimed at taking the measures initiated by the government for the welfare and development of farmers tot the grassroots levels. The new body would be incorporated as a non-profit corporation and the funds allocated to it would be utilised towards achieving its objectives. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced this at a review meeting on agriculture with senior officials here on Thursday. The development comes at a time when the government intensified its efforts to constitute farmers’ coordination committees at district and State levels. The committees had already been constituted at the mandal level and the government convened conference of these coordination bodies on February 25 and 26 to explain to the members their roles and responsibilities. In addition to the FCC members, Ministers, MLAs and senior officials would attend the conferences being held at Hyderabad and Karimnagar. The Chief Minister was firm that the committees at different levels should play an active role from transplantation of crops to ensuring minimum support price to farmers after harvesting. The government had decided to ensure that at least 51% of these FCCs had members from weaker sections and women. The government had decided to put in place platforms — one for every 5,000 acres — enabling farmers to hold meetings to discuss the issues and exchange ideas. The officials were directed to complete the procedure regarding formation of these platforms while the District Collectors were instructed to identity suitable land for hosting these platforms. The Collectors could accordingly take available government lands, accept donation or purchase them from individuals/institutions, wherever necessary. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, Ministers Pocharam Srinivas Reddy (agriculture), Eatala Rajender (Finance) and A. Indrakaran Reddy (Housing), and Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma participated in the meeting, according to an official release.
