The Government decided to fill 8,792 posts through the Teachers Recruitment Test (TRT) to be conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC). In combined Andhra Pradesh, recruitment was held through the District Selection Committee (DSC). Now, as per the High Court directive, the TRT is being held for the original 10 districts rather than the newly created 31 districts. TSPSC Chairman Ghanta Chakrapani said that out of the 48 examinations, 44 would be held in the Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) mode and the remaining in the offline mode. He expressed the confidence that the CBRT would help in ensuring transparency. Of the total posts, 5,415 are those of Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) and 1,941 are School Assistant (SA). The maximum applications of 1.44 lakh have come for SA posts, while for the SGT posts, only 89,000 candidates have applied. Applicants from Mahabubnagar are the highest followed by Medak. For the SA posts, candidates from Nalgonda district are the highest. The demand for SGT posts is less as the posts are limited to D.Ed qualified candidates, while SA posts are for B.Ed candidates, whose number is more in the State. Competition in Mahabubnagar is the highest with 42,529 candidates testing their luck for 1,979 posts. However, candidates of all the districts will be eligible for the 20% open quota. So, meritorious candidates will have a chance to get recruited even outside their native districts.
