more-in The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has asserted that the proposed alternative by TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will remain a non-starter or irrelevant as the TRS would not win many seats in the next elections. TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister’s repeated claims on the alternative were aimed at diverting people’s attention from the failures of his government. Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was afraid of facing people as his government had done precious little towards solving the problems of people. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Chief Minister’s visit to Kolkata to meet his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee was “political gimmick” aimed at escaping the wrath of people. Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao failed to fulfil even a single promise made to people in the TRS manifesto and this could be seen from the manner in which the budget session was being conducted as a formality. The Chief Minister had hurt the sanctity of the legislature by illegally suspending all the Congress members for the entire session. The Congress had therefore decided to approach people and expose the failures of the government. Meanwhile, MRPS founder Manda Krishna visited the AICC headquarters and met AICC secretary R.C. Khuntia and other senior leaders. Mr. Khuntia assured that the Congress was serious on the categorisation of the Scheduled Castes and demanded that the government order an inquiry by the CBI into the attack on the MRPS founder. Mr. Khuntia wanted Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao to clarify his stand on whether the was against or in support of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre. He said the alternative proposed by the TRS president would benefit the Narendra Modi government in the next elections. It was better if Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao focussed on fulfilling the assurances he gave to people of the State rather than worrying about the rest of the country.
